With as many as 2,000 living species of starfish found in different oceans of the world, one can see a great deal of diversity when it comes to this marine species. Basically, the layman's knowledge about this species is restricted to the individuals washed up on the shores, and that explains why most of us are oblivious about some of the most interesting facts about starfish species - like the fact that these species have two stomachs or that they have the ability to regenerate (regrow) their arms. Contrary to the popular belief, starfish species can have more than five arms - at times even twelve arms, radiating from their body.
