Sound production is primarily a reproductive function of male anurans. sometimes they give advertisement calls to attract females for reproduction. sometimes females also give reciprocation calls to indicate receptiveness. sometimes frogs use these type of sounds to indicate that any frog is in capable for reproduction these calls are called release calls... Distress calls are not associated with sex detection , these are the result of pain or being seized by a predator.
